This privacy policy applies to the Trans app (hereby referred to as "Application") for mobile devices, created by Joseph Licht (hereby referred to as "Service Provider"). The Application is an open-source public transit companion designed to help you plan routes, track journeys, and connect with friends.

1. Information Collection and Use

To provide our services and ensure a seamless experience, the Application collects and processes the following types of information when you download and use it:

• Account Information: When you create an account, we collect personally identifiable information such as your email address, username, and password to authenticate you securely via our infrastructure.
• Location Data: The Application requests access to your device's geographical location to provide core functionality, including route planning from your current position, sharing real-time transit locations with friends, and navigating to saved "Favorites". You can disable location access at any time through your device settings, or hide your location from other users within the app using the "Ghost Mode" feature.
• Camera and Photos: The Application may request access to your device's camera for barcode/QR code scanning and photo libraries to allow you to set a profile avatar or capture images within the app.
• Device Usage Data: The Application collects anonymized diagnostic information such as your device's Internet Protocol (IP) address, operating system, app usage time, and crash reports. This data is used solely to maintain, analyze, and improve the stability of the Application.

2. Data Security & Encryption

We prioritize the security of your data. The Application features built-in End-to-End Encryption for private chat messaging between friends. This means only you and the recipient can read the messages; the Service Provider cannot intercept or access them.

All other retained data is protected by industry-standard physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards.

3. Third-Party Services

The Application relies on third-party public transit APIs (such as Transitous/MOTIS and Deutsche Bahn v6) to provide precise routing information. When you search for routes, anonymous coordinate requests are sent to these providers to fetch travel paths.

The Service Provider occasionally transmits aggregated and anonymized usage data to external services to monitor app performance. We do not sell or share personally identifiable information with marketing or advertising companies.

4. Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The Application does not utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to process your personal data, profile patterns, or generate automated decision-making.

5. Your Rights and Data Retention

The Service Provider will retain User Provided data (like your account details) for as long as you maintain an active account on the Application.

• Opt-Out: You can stop all data collection by uninstalling the Application at any time. Inside the app, you can clear your local search history and manage blocked users directly.
• Data Deletion Request: If you would like us to permanently delete your account and all associated data, please contact the Service Provider directly via the email listed below.

6. Children's Privacy

The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. We encourage parents and legal guardians to monitor their children's internet usage. If you believe your child has provided personal information to us without proper consent, please contact us immediately so we can remove such data.

7. Legal Disclosures

We reserve the right to disclose User Provided and Automatically Collected Information:

• As required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process.
• When we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others, to investigate fraud, or to respond to a government request.

8. Changes to this Privacy Policy

The Service Provider may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or statutory requirements. We will notify you of any changes by updating this page. Continued use of the Application signifies your acceptance of these changes.
